Disciplinary Procedures

Page history last edited by TC STs 2 years, 6 months ago

Strikes are disciplinary actions given out for violations of basic LARP conduct, the code of conduct, the house rules, or OWBN policies. They come in two varieties: Administrative Strikes and Chronicle Strikes.

If the staff notices questionable behavior, or if such behavior brought as a complaint by a player or Player Representative, the staff will determine if the action is in fact a violation of the rules. If so, they will determine whether the Strike to be given is Administrative or Chronicle level.

Administrative Strikes

These strikes deal with less-serious violations of the rules and expectations for conduct. Each strike given while a strike is on the record results in a higher-level strike than the last.

First Level: Warning

The staff will notify the player and the TC:LS mailing list of the strike and the reasoning behind it. The player's character sheet(s) will reflect the strike in the Notes section and it will be on record for one year. The consequences of the strike can include (but is not limited to) loss of experience points from the session in question; denial of play for one or more subsequent sessions; reduction of the monthly Experience cap of the player to 6 XP a month for up to three months; or any other action the staff deems necessary.

Second Level: Formal Warning

This will also be recorded on the sheet and will be on the record for one year plus the time remaining of the first-level strike. This strike can include (but is not limited to) banning from game for up to three months or limiting the Experience the player can earn on any TC:LS character to a max of 4 XP per month.

Third Level: Chronicle Strike

The player receives a Chronicle Strike, as described below.

Chronicle Strikes

These are for serious breaches of our expectations for conduct or our house rules. Examples include consistently breaking the rules, threatening harm to players, cursing out staff or players in an inappropriate manner, intentional or blatant cheating, serious harassment of staff or players and the like.

The staff will inform the player and the TC:LS mailing list of the Strike and its reasons. The strike will be recorded on the player's character sheet(s) and will stay on the record for one year, plus any remaining time if this strike came as a result of a third Administrative Strike action.

The player will be disallowed character transfers, applying for rare and unusual PCs, travel of any kind, and event game attendance for a minimum of three months. Furthermore, the player will receive one or more of the following disciplinary actions:

  • Administrative death of their character
  • Ban from play for 3 months to one year
  • Loss of experience points already earned/spent on the sheet
  • Storyteller, or Narrator required sheet and item audits on demand
  • Loss of mailing list posting privileges
  • Forced shelving of primary PC until behavior is changed
  • Reduction of experience that can be earned per session or per month even if the reduction brings them to zero XP for up to one year.
  • Permanent ban from game

Any player who receives three Chronicle Strikes will be banned from the game, requiring a two-thirds majority vote by the entire active player base, including the staff, to reenter play.

Offenses worthy of Administrative Strikes do not automatically convert to Chronicle Strikes once a player has earned a Chronicle Strike; however, the Staff will determine this based on each situation, and the pattern of the player in question.
