Creating a Gift

Discuss with Storytellers first to outline the purpose of the gift, costs, retests, limitations, and level. It is required to have a gift concept being discussed before spending downtime actions to create it (allowing progress while determining the final details). Don't forget to come up with a gift name and the spirit who will teach it. Requires ST approval to be started.

 

The Gift creation takes 3 stages.

Stage 1: Research. Study to make sure the gift to be made does not already already exist for your tribe/breed/auspice or exist in too similar of a manner. Requires support from a Galliard and the use of Book of Years.

 

Stage 2: Creation. Creation is finding a spirit whom will teach the gift, performing tasks to support the spirit (chiminage), and guiding the spirit to understand what gift is to be bestowed. Creation phase: Requires support from a Theurge and the use of Spirit Speech.

 

Stage 3: Teaching & Learning. Teaching is finding a pupil (test subject) for the spirit to teach the gift to other then the gift creator. Must be done in person, on the floor. Learning the gift as the creator is after the pupil has mastered it. Effectively, two characters earn the gift when all tasks are successfully completed. 

 

For Requirements: Each support requirement can be filled by one or multiple persons, and one person can fulfill multiple requirements.

 

Examples:

Theurge "Non-Negotiable" wants to create an Intermediate gift. During the Research phase, they can only fulfill the role of Creator and invest 10 downtimes. They recruit the Galliard "Talks Too Much" who invests 5 downtimes but does not have Book of Years. So another Garou, "Ancestors' Guidance", offers to use Book of Years and contributes 5 downtimes. In total, research took 20 downtime actions. Then "Non-Negotiable" must work on Creation of the Intermediate gift. They are a Theurge and know Spirit Speech, allowing them to complete roles of creator, helper auspice, and gift requirements within 15 downtime actions. With research and creation completed, "Non-Negotiable" offers "Talks Too Much" to be the test-subject pupil to be the FIRST to receive the gift via a scene on the game floor. If all goes well, "Talks Too Much" masters the gift and "Non-Negotiable" can then also learn the gift.
