Nuwisha

Page history last edited by TC STs 1 month, 2 weeks ago

These Gifts are available to characters of the Nuwisha (werecoyotes) changing breed.

Basic

Bad Joke

Activation Time: Normal

Challenge: Social Challenge vs. Target's Social

Retest: Performance for Nuwisha, Enigmas for Target

Effect: By telling a joke or riddle in character, the Nuwisha may call Fair escape while the target laughs uncontrollably or is too confused to react.Test against the member of a group with the highest number of mental traits. This gift does not work against animals, spirits, or fully wyrm creatures, though most Fomori and Vampires are fair game. Attacking the Target or otherwise interacting with her in any way automatically cancels the gift.

 Camouflage

Activation Time: Normal

Effect: You blend in with your surroundings, becoming difficult to detect. You gain a three-Trait bonus against those who try to detect you. While this always works in the northern wilderness, Storytellers may choose to mitigate the effect if you are in an area less befitting of the Wendigo tribe.

Duration: Until you end the effect

Dance of Dionysis

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: None if not contested. Physical vs. target otherwise

Retest: Brawl

Effect: Target becomes dizzy and uncoordinated --blurry vision, ringing ears, slurred speech.  Essentially, the target appears drunk. For the duration, the target may not initiate challenges, but may defend himself as normal.

Duration: One action per permanent Gnosis the Nuwisha has (or 10 seconds out of combat); spending Rage for extra actions helps burn through the duration.

Disappearing Act

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Willpower and one Gnosis

Effect: The Nuwisha stands perfectly still and becomes invisible to all forms of detection. Even bumping into the user won't disrupt the power, nor will knocking them over, provided the user doesn't intentionally move (ie, cannot get back up)

Duration: Until the Nuwisha willingly moves

Gift of the Porcupine

Activation Time: Normal

Required: Crinos, Hispo or Lupus form

Cost: One Gnosis

Effect: A porcupine-spirit has taught you to shape your fur into long, sharp quills. Anyone you grapple, pin or tackle suffers a level of Aggravated damage. Anyone who strikes you with bare flesh suffers damage as if they'd struck themselves (maximum three).  The attacker may avoid this drawback by bidding two additional traits to avoid the quills when striking. (The extra bid is not itself a called shot.)

Duration: One Scene or Hour (may be dismissed at will)

Heave-ho

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: Physical if contested

Retest: Athletics

Effect: The Nuwisha throws his target with unerring accuracy up to ten feet per physical trait he possesses. The target takes one additional damage when he lands, due to the speed of the throw and force of the impact. The Nuwisha must be able to physically lift the target and throw them.

New Face

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: Static Social vs 6 traits

Retest: Subterfuge

Effect: The Nuwisha appears to be a member of any race, breed, tribe, etc. This only works in the Nuwisha's homid or Latrani forms. No benefits are given, as this is just an illusion; even if used to grant pure breed, those traits cannot be bid or used when comparing ties.   They are purely cinematic. Looking like a weight lifter doesn't make you any stronger.

Duration: Scene or hour, or until the Nuwisha cancels it.

Odious Aroma

Activation Time: Normal

Effect: As the Bone Gnawer Gift

Otter's Breath

Activation Time: Normal

Effect: As the Uktena Gift

Possum's Wisdom

Activation Time: Personal

Cost: One Gnosis

Effect: The Nuwisha appears to be dead to all non-mystical methods of examination. He does not breathe or blink, his pulse stops, and his skin turns cold. No other gifts may be used while feigning death.

Duration: Up to one scene, at which time the Nuwisha is down two Physical traits until he gets warm food and stretches. Voluntary movement dispels the illusion immediately.

 Rabbit Run

Activation Time: Personal

Effect: As the Silent Strider Gift "Speed of Thought"

Snake Skin

Activation Time: Automatic

Effect: As the Metis Gift "Shed"

 Song of Kokopelli

Activation Time: Normal

Challenge: Social vs Socials of all who can hear the performance. Can be relented

Retest: Performance

Effect: The effected cannot attack or otherwise take any aggressive action, and those in frenzy are calmed (but only for the duration of the gift. If the target of frenzy is still present, frenzy continues when the gift ceases.) Effect is broken if a target is attacked.

Duration: As long as the Nuwisha is performing

 Spirit Speech

 Activation Time: Automatic

 As the theurge gift

 Twisting Tongues

Activation Time: Automatic

Effect: The Nuwisha may understand any spoken language as well as sign language, even being able to speak with spirits, banes, computers.

Umbral Map

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: None, may expend one gnosis for additional effect

Challenge: None if target is not actively hiding. Mental vs ST determined difficulty (6 for well known target, 8 for one that was met, 10 for target only known by name, 12+ for only a description)

Retest: Enigmas

Effect: The Nuwisha can find anyone, wherever they are. Initially, the gift works as per Sense of the Prey. An additional gnosis and a second challenge tells the Nuwisha exactly where the target is, including what realm the target is in (and where in that realm).

 Xochipilli's Touch

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: Optional, one gnosis

Challenge: Static Mental vs 10 traits

Effect: The Nuwisha gives good or bad luck to himself or to a target, as he desires. Gnosis increases this effect to near-miraculous levels. The exact nature of the luck is determined by the Storyteller, but should not have mechanical effect. Good luck might help the target avoid detection/recording when breaching the veil. Bad luck might mean that the target runs out of gas or is pulled over for having a tail light out, all at Narrator's discretion

Duration: One scene or hour, though it does not have to be the current scene (ie, the Nuwisha can 'wish someone luck' on a mission and then activate the gift, having it affect the mission)

intermediate

Blisters

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: Social vs Target

Effect: Blisters raise on the victim's skin. They do not cause damage and cannot become infected, but are ugly as sin and cause fur and hair to fall out as they appear. The target gains the Negative Social Trait Repugnant x2, and for the remainder of the effect has a one-trait penalty on social challenges related to appearance but do not involve intimidation.

Duration: Remainder of the session

 Bridgewalk

Activation Time: Personal (Movement)

As the Galliard Gift

 Dance of Abandon

Activation Time: Normal

Challenge: Social vs Target

Retest: Empathy

Effect: The target is in her highest spirits and must celebrate for the remainder of this scene. They celebrate as would be appropriate for the character.

Duration: One scene or until target is attacked.

Gift of Rage

Activation Time: Personal

Cost: 1, 2, or 3 gnosis

Effect: The Nuwisha gains 'permanent' rage traits, if one gnosis is spent, the Nuwisha gains three rage traits. If two is spent, they gain a total of five rage traits. If three is spent, they gain a total of seven rage traits. The Nuwisha with this Gift can Rage. While this Gift is in effect, the Nuwisha is capable of taking the extra actions that any other Changing Breed takes for granted. The Nuwisha also loses her immunity to silver while this Gift is in action, as Coyote does not want his children to be comfortable with the notion of hatred. Gift of Rage is taught by a spirit servant of Loki.

Duration: One scene, or turned off at will.

Happy Thoughts

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: Must make physical contact with the target

Effect: Target cannot spend rage for any reason (Cannot frenzy, take extra actions, activate gifts requiring rage, etc)

Duration: Scene, or until target would normally rage heal

Locked Door

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: Three Gnosis

Challenge: Willpower vs 5 traits

Effect: The target is blocked from entering or exiting the Umbra, as the coyote desires, trapping the being on one side of the gauntlet.

Duration: One scene/hour per permanent gnosis trait of the Nuwisha.

 Push

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: Gnosis vs Target's Willpower

Effect: Must be a member of Umbral Dansers camp. Target must be within ten feet of user. The target is then pushed into the Penumbra, or vice versa.

Scent of Vengeance

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: None if declaring distant scent. One gnosis if masking the scent of an individual

Challenge: Must be touching individual if attempting to mask their scent. Mental vs 5 if distance, Mental vs 7 if masking.

Effect: The Nuwisha causes a shapechanger to smell the scent of an old enemy. This usually emanates from a distance in order to lead the target away, though the Nuwisha may also place the scent on another target. Nuwisha has no control over what scent is caused unless they know the scent of the target's enemy.

Duration: One Scene

Shadow Walk

Activation Time: Personal

Challenge: Gnosis Test vs 5 traits

Effect: The Nuwisha may go to umbral realms normally forbidden to shapechangers. However they must be able to find that place. This gift gives no protection against anything that she may encounter on the way.

Sheep's Clothing

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: Static Mental Challenge against seven traits, or eight against drastically different forms such as a raven.

Effect: The Nuwisha appears to be another type of shapeshifter. This gift allows the Nuwisha to use the caerns of other shapeshifters instead of maintaining their own. This fools all supernatural powers of detection, but the Nuwisha does not gain Traits from this change and may not simulate abilities a coyote cannot use, such as flight of a raven, unless he also possesses Gifts that allow him to do so.

Duration: One scene

Umbral Howl

Activation Time: Normal

Effect: This gift allows the Nuwisha to call other Nuwisha in both the mortal realm and the Umbra. It is commonly used for swapping stories, however it can be used to call for aid. When used in such a way, all manner of creatures may answer, including fae, spirits, and stranger things. The range is enormous and is best loosely described as "Nuwisha within three or four states and a Realm or two" while the range for other allies is much shorter.

Advanced

Backfire

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: Two gnosis for mystical effect, one for mundane or brawl/melee

Challenge: Gnosis vs target's willpower

Retest: Subterfuge

Effect: The target suffers the effect of whatever power they were attempting to use on the Nuwisha. Mundane guns and other technological weaponry deals damage to the user and immediately breaks. Supernatural effects on melee or brawl attacks are reflected, though the attack still goes through without the supernatural benefit (so a Fetish axe would still deal normal axe damage, but the effect of the fetish would be applied to the weilder.)

Duration: At will/reactive

Coyote's Mask

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: Two Gnosis and Two Willpower

Effect: Nuwisha must be in a form not natural to the Nuwisha, a la Sheep's Clothing, Trickster's Skin, or Thousand Forms. Nuwisha must spend a full turn concentrating, and then may 'die' once so long as he is in someone else's form. If the Nuwisha falls below incapacitated from lethal or aggravated damage while this  gift is active he immediately appears in breed form not more than ten feet away, and all that remains behind of the 'corpse' is a small scrap of coyote fur. The Nuwisha reappears at full health.

Duration: Remainder of scene

Ghost Dance

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis per round

Effect: The Nuwisha may fight in the material world and the Umbra simultaneously, attacking foes on either side while completely avoiding damage. While in effect, the Nuwisha can only be harmed by other uses of this gift or similar powers that strike both sides of the gauntlet simultaneously.

Trickster's Skin

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: Mental Challenge vs. Target

Retest: Primal Urge

Effect: The Nuwisha and the target change forms, each looking, smelling, sounding etc. like the other. They also switch places, further confusing matters. Theis gift cannot be detected by normal means. It provides only illusion (ie if you are missing an arm you gain a non-functioning arm, do not gain biddable pure breed, etc)

Duration: One scene or hour

Umbral Gateway

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: Four Gnosis

Challenge: Mental vs Ten traits

Effect: The Nuwisha opens a gateway directly into the umbra, allowing him and anyone he chooses to cross into the umbra. No being may use the portal without his consent.

Duration: One scene or until Nuwisha ceases the portal.

Wyld Throw

Activation Time: Normal

Cost: One Gnosis

Challenge: Physical Challenge to grapple the target

Retest: Athletics

Effect: Must be a member of Umbral Dansers camp. The Nuwisha throws the target into the umbra. The target appears exactly where the Nuwisha wants them, in whatever realm the Nuwisha decides to send them.
